So this summer has basically swung by pretty fast. I've enjoyed a good part of it. I didn't get to read as much as I hoped, but I'll be okay in school, or at least I hope so. I don't know if I even did anything useful this summer, no work (not that I could anyway), or anything. Just pretty much spent it playing as much basketball as I could. This week has given me some things to think about: my future. It had me thinking about it so much that it inspired me to write this poem up. The poem actually came to me as I was trying to go to sleep. Well at least I think it can be considered a poem, a sucky one anyway, seeing as how I don't really know much about poetry, it's probably just a stanza. For now it doesn't even have a title, and probably not even finished. Anyway, it goes something like this...

Where will I go?

Oh how I wish I could see this luminous glow

but all I see is taking a blow.

Seems as if my blog was dead huh? Well it's not. It is now summer vacation, and well heck yes! Finally done with school, which is the bright side of it. The other side... well, I'm now done with my JUNIOR year of high school, up next is senior year, which is kinda scary. We all knew it had to come though.
Well I've been doing pretty good since my last post. The reason I hadn't posted anything on this thing though is because I was really trying to concentrate on my AP tests, which I hope I did well on. I will know in July though.
In other words, summer... yeah. I don't know what I'm going to do with it just yet. I wanted to read all my AcaDec resources again as I did last year. The thing is that I probably won't be getting my resources for another two weeks. Then I would also like to get a job, I wish I could get a job anyways. Pretty hard for me to get a job in this world though, so I don't quite know if this will happen. One thing that does have to come out of this summer is action... hope so anyways. I'm pulling for that bill!

Spring Break

So with it being Friday, spring break is pretty much over, only the weekened is left, and a weekend it should be. I have North Texas Food Bank tomorrow for NHS, and Sunday... I see myself doing that calculus take home test that I was reluctant to do. I've been, well trying to get some rest this spring break. I was originally planning on catching up on reading these princeton review AP books, but that hasn't happened. Instead, the only reading that I've done this week is of The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. It's a really nice book, well so far anyways. I can really see how this book had an effect on society in the early 1900s leading to the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Acts. I can also see how this book could affect society yet again today. The family in this book is of immigrant decent struggling through the wilderness of the city (Chicago). The reason I say that it could affect society again today is because this book, published in 1906, a time when there was much immigration, reminds the American people, who are decendants of those immigrants, that many started life in America very hard, obtaining any job that they could get their hands on, and determined to keep it. Sounds familiar? Well it should because many hispanics are playing the same role today, more or less anyways. Well this is just the way I see it anyhow.

Procrastination is awesome. Okay well maybe not really. It is really dreadfully horrible! To whom ever reads this blog and reads this, take my advice, and don't procrastinate! I have so many things to do, and it's the end of the six weeks. I do find it a bit funny how everything always seems to work out... but I can't rely on that. Funny thing is that I am just blogging to procrastinate even further... I think I should get some homework done now...

So it's been about a month since I last updated. I think I might be making a trend of it. So this new year is going alright so far. AcaDec Regionals were nice. We did way better than last year, just quite wasn't enough though. I'm not so ready to start on it again, like they are having us do, but oh well... not much that can be done. So what else can I say? Mavs are still awesome. Might be second best in the league right now... but that's only for now, they've been numero uno all season long, but hey... at least it's nothing compared to what the heat are doing.... hahahaha heat...
Okay so I think I might be ready to really start cracking down on school this semester, now that acadec is over with anyhow. That does mean that I have to get registered for the SAT... I wonder how that'll turn out. Just have to wait and see.

Year In Rewind

So 2006 is pretty much over. A whole lot of things have happened, so it's okay to say that it's been a very crazy year. It's gone from my first Regional AcaDec competition, to going through the stress of preparing for AP tests, to waiting for the results, not to mention a fun summer of Pre-Cal, which included really fun basketball (which is the fun part really, not the math part), all the way to winning AcaDec District Competition. Yeah, that's been my year, well in a quick summary anyways. As for the time being, I am enjoying this break very much. Who ever knew that sleep could do someone this much good? Well it's done me good anyways. The thing that keeps on bugging me are grades, I wanna know my grades for the semester already! Pretty anxious I am. I have to be patient though... I mean look what happened to Cartman from South Park in that episode where he couldn't wait for the Nintendo Wii to come out right? haha... I will not freeze myself.

Rest is Nice

So I'm on winter break. It's going by rather nicely, it'll get better if I actually do get something for Christmas this year, and it looks like I might, so it might just get better! It's rather nice not having to do any homework for a change, except maybe study for AcaDec, but at this point I don't feel like doing anything except resting, oh well. Okay so not much else to say at the time, so stay tuned (if anyone reads this) for the next segment of winter break... haha.

So district competition is this Saturday, and I just don't feel as ready as I could be. I know I've learned more things, but just reflecting on how I did last year... I hope I don't do the same. Then again of course this year's competition will have a completely different scenerio all around. So I don't know how it'll turn out this year... I definately know that I won't have specific things on my mind, as I did last year, with it being my birthday and all. This year my birthday is the day AFTER district. How convenient no? So all I hope is that we do awesome as a team and that our hard work pays off. Hopefully this is our year.

New Look & Break

Alright so I decided it was time to change this blog up a bit, so as you can see it is now all different, and quite cool I think. Yep so besides this Thanksgiving break. Well it's been here and there so far, only two days of it, and it hasn't been much of a break. I've had to go to AcaDec meetings Monday and Tuesday, and then putting that aside I've had to do some homework early on. Of course I've only been doing doing this to ease things up a bit, otherwise I'll be trying to do everything the last minute. I think this probably means that I am getting over my procrastination, which is nothing but good news.
Well of course Invitationals has passed, and District is approaching, and I hope I can do way better than I did last year, and better than I did at Invitationals. Let's hope I can study hard and make it pay off.

Can Anyone Say Stressful Week?

So as the title gives off it's been kind of a stressful week. The one thing that triggers the whole thing though is AcaDec, invitational to be more specific. It's kind of hard trying to study and then having to do your homework at the same time. Oh and then when you fall behind... ahhh, yeah that's what seems to be happening with Doc's class. I find myself constantly having to catch up, I know it's bad but there just really isn't much I can do to prevent it. Right now I need to read The Handmaid's Tale... and I've only gotten to chapter 8! Well you certainly know it hasn't been a good week when you are sick and Mavs are 0-3 on top of it all. Hopefully Mavs pull off a win tonight against the L.A. Clippers though. Man I hope I feel better soon, I sure don't to be sick on Saturday! Well we'll see what happens though, and I'll stop now because homework duty calls!

Gushy Mushy in the Bushy

So today I went and looked at what can probably be a future job. I looked into the field of... picking up trash. Oh that was a crazy experience. You learn quite a bit from picking up so much trash, like when you're picking up trash deep in the trees and stuff, yeah, you just MIGHT want to watch out where you step, for what you step in may be a brown gushy substance that a dog left just for you... Yes, but in other words I also got to play basketball today, yay! It had been such a long time, like about a month! Yeah, it's always nice to play, it is quite relieving, and then it rained. The rain was nice, I had forgotten how nice it is to be out there in the rain, felt like a little kid :D hehe. Yeah, but rained caused me not to go out and see Sunset pull off a victory, and they won too... Why do they have to win the games that I don't go to?... Oh well, maybe I should miss every game from now on, who knows, but yes, basketball awesome, compared to that gushy mushy stuff in the bushy present from a dog, ah yes.

Reawakened, Or So I Think...

Yes people I am alive, haha, I'm speaking as if anyone reads this, but you never know these days. Okay well I guess I haven't blogged since before school started... so I guess I should talk about school then. Well school has been how should I put it... not like sophomore year. Yes, I think that fits. I so think I'm not going to make it by the time all is done and gone. Let's put it this way, AcaDec and AP classes don't mix well, and if you want a worse scenerio, just ask Gonzalo about sports, AcaDec, and AP classes, he'll tell you how it is. The bad thing about this is that I'm like not caring for AcaDec as much anymore... or at least that's how I feel right now, maybe when I see the latest ranks I'll care and turn it up a notch, hopefully anyways. I guess that I just need to go through failure to come back up, that's how it works for me anyways. Oh well, I don't know how to handle all of this, it's just a bit overwhelming, and I'm not looking forward to that calculus six weeks test... Oh how I miss band, I used to be able to relax just by playing a couple of notes on my sax... how I miss those days... maybe a complementary good will emerge or something, haha, at least I'm getting better with economics :-D. I still miss my sax though...

At The Mall

Ah I dunno why I'm posting something, I guess it's probably because I'm bored, have nothing to do, and don't want to go to bed just yet. Well I guess I can talk about my summer so far (because it's been so exciting), well um Pre-Cal, that's all I got to say, got the first semester under my belt, and working on the second. Mavs

Well Mavs didn't win tonight, and that means that the Miam Heat are the new NBA Champions. You HAVE to congratulate the Mavs on having an AWESOME season. They tied a franchise record for 60-22, Dirk had a carreer high in scoring average, then when the playoffs came around they swept the Memphis Grizzlies, had what can probably be considered to be the BEST series in a very long time against San Antonio, and advanced to the Western Conference Finals where they took down Steve Nash and his Phoenix Suns. This was a great NBA Finals matchup, but Heat came out on top, no blaming it on the reffs. Congratulations to the Miami Heat for winning the championship, but CONGRATULATIONS
to the Dallas Mavericks!

Titleless?

Well this has been a good week I guess. Hasn't been as boring as it was last week, then again I have more stuff to do, other than just trying to read AcaDec resources all day. I now have Pre-Cal to go along with my day, but that does get tiring, so I am thankful I didn't have Pre-Cal today. Learning a lot very quick lol, but it's been good. As opposed to being good, the thing that has been GREAT is a Mavs Game 1 Finals win over the Miami Heat. What an awesome game that was, sure maybe not one of the greatest, but it's just great having the Mavs play in it. Jason Terry was brilliant, lifting the Mavs to the win with 32 pts, the final score of 90-80. Yes, well that was yesterday. Today was more of a relax/catch up day. The relaxing part was from a no-math day, and the catching up was with these AcaDec resources, I am almost through my first resource. Well I guess other than that, nothing much has been going on, just glad it hasn't been a BORING week lol. Well I guess that just about wraps it up for this entry, be sure to catch game 2 of The Finals on Sunday, a home game for the Mavs...oh yeah, it'll be a good one, bu then again, when are Finals games not?

Goodbye

Well today was the graduation for class of 2006. It went by rather smoothly. It was nice seeing all of those seniors walking across the stage, we got to say goodbye, and wish them goodluck on the rest of their life. It was making me think about the day when I get to walk across the stage and receive my high school diploma, but then I realized that I have two more years till that happens, so then I started thinking about band and stuff. Since the band played at graduation, I had my saxophone (it's actually the school's, but I still consider it as mine) on my lap throughout graduation, and I started thinking that that was going to be the last time I played it! It's sad to think about it, I mean I've been playing it ever since 5th grade, and now...it's all come to an end. Oh well though, I'm sure I'll be reacquainted with it some time in the future. However until then my first period band class will be replaced next year with another class (AP Art History). So it can easily be said that it was an emotional day, filled with joy for the graduation of many seniors finally graduating, and sadness to say goodbye to my saxophone, oh well... maybe in the future...

I just felt like I needed to write this down or something. Well, why must certain girls act as if they are 10? Why can't they just grow up? Seriously, sometimes they just need to act their age instead of acting like they are 10, they need to CONFRONT stuff, instead of running away by not speaking and such crap. Well yeah, this has been today... I'm just wondering why, and will I ever get the answer? Who knows... but what I am certain of is that these girls NEED to grow up.

Playoffs!!!

Yes! It's that glorious time of year again. The NBA Playoffs have started woohoo!!! Man, it's kinda hard to be doing some homework...yeah, now I regret procrastinating here...but I just can't help it! It's the NBA Playoffs for crying out loud! As you can probably tell I'm very excited about tonight's game. Dallas Vs. Memphis, yeah Dallas should come out with a win, well at least I hope. It'll be funny if Memphis gets swept again. Ha. Seeing as how they've never won a playoff game before, but you never know, they are pretty tough this year, well anyhow I need to do this homework! Ahh...stupid homework....I'm missing a game as I write this....oh well, hopefully I'll be done with all my homework by Mavs time.

Time for an Update

Days go by and the end of school seems to get closer. Only one six weeks left, and I couldn't be more relieved. Panic is still among the school with the whole TAKS stuff, but oh well, what else can you expect...The day of the AP exams approach and I wonder if I'll even be able to pass one of the three I signed up for. Yes, odds are against me, just gotta wait and see for that to approach though. Well I think I should stay on the present for now though, I still need to take care of business for this upcoming six weeks, I need that GPA to go up!
On other news my Mavs are rolling right now, so I'm happy with that. Despite having had lost three straight a while back, they're back to being the Mavs. Oh, and what an amazing win against San Antonio last night! It was a great game overall. To think that, like school, the Mavs season is also coming to an end...only FIVE more games left in the regular season. However after the season is over.....PLAYOFF TIME! That's what I'm looking forth to. Well, it seems that I have pretty much ran out of things to say now, so I'll just go back to enjoying Leonel's ipod.

Well what can I say, life is great. Mavs are AWESOME! But I know you don't want to hear me ramble about the Mavs...whoever "you" are....I mean, I'm not even sure if anyone reads this, however I still post to kill my boredom. Of course, if you couldn't already tell, I am bored right now. Well let's see, what's new to talk about? Oh yeah...well I am the new team captain for the white team for next year in acdec. I think that ought to be fun. I think I can handle the responsibility, or so I hope. Oh well, we'll find out in its due time. In the mean time, there is school tomorrow, and I just saw a really long movie today. "Schindler's List" is long, yet very good (I had to see it for a movie critique). Despite it being 3 hours and 17 minutes long, it is dramatic, and at the same time you learn about WW II, which is always nice. Yeah, I just hope I can write a good enough critique on it, but oh well, it's not officially due till March 10th. In other news a got a hair cut today, I don't know how that's intersting at all, or why anyone reading this would like to know that, but yeah, I just wanted to throw it out there for no reason at all. Oh, and it seems that I have ran out of things to say, so till next time!

11 Games

Well since I haven't talked about the Mavs in quite a while now, I thought I would do just that, and I was bored. Well terrific success has crossed the Mavericks' path, as they have won 11 straight games, trying a franchise record for 2nd longest winning streak. The loungest was a 14 game winning streak which happened in the '02-'03 season. Mavericks have overcome injuries and such stuff to still be the best in the west, well tied for it, but that's not the point, I still think we can take San Antonio down. These last couple of days Josh Howard has been leading the attack, which is good, it takes some pressure off of Dirk. This is not only a Josh Howard thing though, it's more of a TEAM thing. The Mavericks' depth has to be taken into consideration, I mean what teams are out there that have backups who can be starting on different teams? I know the Mavericks do, Devin Harris, back up point guard, can be starting on plenty of teams. Adrian Griffin, currently starting for the injured Marquis Daniel and a regular back up for him, can be starting on other teams, as he was before he came to the Mavericks. Jerry Stackhouse, back up small forward/shooting guard, can definitely start on many teams. Keith Van Horn is a great back up for Dirk Nowitzki, but he can be starting on other teams as he was before. Eric Dampier can most certainly be starting on other teams, he was a starter on the Mavericks, but he is currently enjoying the bench more, as he is bringing more productivity off the bench. Depth is such an important asset to basketball, and the Mavericks have it, and that is why the Mavericks are on a current 11 game winning streak. Well I don't know what else to say, for all you deceivers of the Mavericks out there, I'm telling you all, do NOT take the Mavericks out of the championship picture. Well I guess I have not much more to say, but if anyone reads this at all, just though I'd let you know, but if not, I've just successfully wasted some time in writing this thing, but eh doesn't matter, I was bored anyways...I really do wonder if anyone reads this though.....if you do comment, just so I can know. Okay, well until next post.

Life After Acdec...

Well life after acdec is nice....no more worries of studying and such....I can finally relax and do other stuff, as I am doing right now, that's just the bright side to it though....I now have to concentrate on my other homework...but eh....I think I'll do better on everything else now that acdec is out of the way. Not making it to state was a bit of a bummer, but a relief as well. As for life outside of this....it's great....nothing special has happened though....but life is still great, then again how can it not when the Mavs have won 7 straight games, right? Yes, oh I just saw American Pie: Band Camp yesterday...it's a hilarious movie....if you haven't seen it already, I recommend in doing so. Yeah, well I have not much more to say, so I guess I'll just end this now....

Break and Holidays...

Well winter break is just about to be over, and school is just a couple of days away. Break was very good, although I could have made it better, like because of my procrastination, I now have to do some projects that aren't very fun, then again when is writing an essay fun? Oh well though, I guess I'll try to make that one of my new year's resolutions, not to procrastinate as much.
Christmas was good, some good tamales were eaten by me. Didn't realy get anything, but that seems to be a trend these years now...New Years, well it wasn't as good, but it was still okay I guess, of course when you are celebrating something, not much can't be fun, I had some martini....it was okay....I'll just drink if for special occasion in the future, as I did from now on though, didn't like it to be drinking whenever there is some.
Well Mavericks are doing good, and that's keeping me happy, unlike the Cowboys who are now out of the playoffs there is always next year I guess. Well Mavericks are still in chase for the southwest division title, and the best record in the west, but San Antonio isn't making it easy, and it just gets tougher whenever you lose at home, by a last second shot, against GOLDEN STATE! Who was owned by the Mavs, the Mavs had won 23 out of the last 25 games against Golden State, but that's the NBA life, teams get better. The good thing about that was that Mavs rebounded right away winning against New Orleans for the 16th straight time in the last 7 years, so that's good. Not much to say anymore, so I'll just cut this right here, so until the next post!

Haven't Done This In A While..

Well it's been a long time since I blogged, and well I'm doing it right now, aren't I? Well let's talk Mavs, because I know all of you out there have been dying to here about what I think so far. Well I love it so far. I see some real potential to win a championship here. I mean, come on. Mavs are winning, and obtain the league's third best record, and guess what, Mavs are doing it without Jerry Stackhouse, Josh Howard, and Jason Terry at the moment. Stackhouse has been out since the start of the season, but Howard and Terry are important players to the team, and WE ARE STILL WINNING! This is great news, I mean I can only wait until everybody is healthy, THEN watch out for the Dallas Mavericks everybody. I'm not going to talk much about the Mavs, so I'll stop it here.
In other stuff, Academic Decathlon has been great. I just recently had a bit of success at District competition, which was sadly on my birthday. I managed to capture one medal, can you guess in what? Music, I have to say that band does pay off, wouldn't you say so? If I can medal in something without studying for it, I have REALLY good chances of medaling in it if I DO study. Well I'm going to end this here because I have to work on my speech, so I'll be trying to blog more constantly, all depending if time allows it, oh and one more thing.....GO MAVS!!

Academic Decathlon Competition

Well yesterday I experienced my very first Academic competition, Invitationals. It was a long day, woke up at 6 and left for school at 7 and didn't come back home till like about 4:30. It was a long day of testing, but it payed off at the end. Once the awards ceremony came, I was anxious to know if my name would be called out to see if I had medaled in any subject. Science was called, and I didn't hear my name. Art, same thing. Then it was Economics, which was one of my weakest subjects so I didn't really expect for my name to be called out, but to my surprise I heard "getting the silver medal, from Sunset Purple: Juan Carlos Gonzalez" I was so surprised at this, and proud of my self. I went on to win two other individual medals, bronze in Music, and bronze in Super Quiz. In total I had 4, the fourth one was as a team, for the Super Quiz Relay. I enjoyed my very first competition, very nice. At the end my team ended up winning the entire competition, Sunset's Purple Protozoa, my team, yup we are #1. Very exciting competition.

Mavericks Are Off!

Oh yeah, I'm back with all of this insight that I have been giving you about the Mavericks, well it may not be a reporter like type of information, but I do in a way do what they do. I work with what I have, okay. So Mavericks had a nice Premiere Week of their own, it's no Bucks type of record, but it's 2-1, by the way, Milwaukee is someone to watch out for, they are undefeated, of course it's early, but still, they are 3-0, but getting back to the Mavs. Mavs won an exciting thriller opening day against Phoenix, the final score of that one was 111-108, in DOUBLE OVERTIME, yeah, that was a tiring game to watch, I stayed up till 1 watching it, but it was worth it. The Mavericks followed that exciting win with a poor loss to the Jazz, it was a game that the Mavs should have won, but the offense dried up towards the end. Although the Mavericks had not had played their best during these first two games, they got it together Saturday against the Spurs. That was one of the best games of the year, not just the Mavericks but in general, but that's just my point of view. Mavericks won with a very well deserved win of 103-84. Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris spoiled and stole the night on Michael Finley's return to Dallas. Dirk got back to his old self and had 34 points on the night, while reserve Devin Harris came off the bench and just stole the show, he scored 20 or his 22 career high points in the fourth quarter, it sure was an amazing game to watch, so I can say that if the Mavs took down the Spurs, the Defending World Champions, I think Mavericks are being underrated by most people, so watch out for the Dallas Mavericks.

Yet Another Joke.. The Magician And The Parrot

A magician was working on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. The audience would be different each week, so the magician allowed himself to do the same tricks over and over again. There was only one problem: The captain's parrot saw the shows every week and began to understand what the magician does in every trick.
Once he understood that, he started shouting in the middle of the show: Look, it's not the same hat. Look, he is hiding the flowers under the table! Hey, why are all the cards the Ace of Spades?
The magician was furious but couldn't do anything, it was the captain's parrot after all. One day the ship had an accident and sunk. The magician found himself on a piece of wood, in the middle of the ocean, with the parrot of course. They stared at each other with hate, but did not utter a word. This went on for a day, and another, and another.
After a week the parrot finally said: OK. I give up. What'd you do with the boat?

Zoology Test

Well it's been a while since I posted a joke, so here goes one.

A young college student had stayed up all night studying for his zoology test the next day. As he entered the classroom, he saw ten stands with ten birds on them. Each bird had a sack over its head; only the legs were showing. He sat straight in the front row because he wanted to do the best job possible. The professor announced that the test would be to look at each of the birds' legs and give the common name, habitat, genus and species.
The student looked at each of the birds' legs. They all looked the same to him. He began to get upset. He had stayed up all night studying and now had to identify birds by their legs. The more he thought about it the madder he got.
Finally he could stand it no longer. He went up to the professor's desk and said, "What a stupid test! How could anyone tell the difference between birds by looking at their legs?" With that the student threw his test on the professor's desk and walked to the door.
The professor was surprised. The class was so big that he didn't know every student's name so as the student reached the door the professor called, "Mister, what's your name?"

Cowboys Disappoint

Well I can sure say that this was an interesting game, and disappointing. It was a pretty good game, despite the fact that we lost, and it wasn't just a loss, it was probably one of the worst losses ever, maybe.....Well it is just frustrating to see that we lost after having the lead for all of the game, a good lead, a lead of 13-0. The last two minutes decided the game though. It was about two or maybe 3 minutes left in the game when the Redskins struck. Well seeing how the defense was, it was real good up until the end of the game, when it mattered the most well our defense let us down. Because of this the COWBOYS DESERVED TO LOSE because of this, not only this but they also didn't try hard enough to widen the lead, this is just frustrating, well we play the San Francisco 49ers. Oh yeah, the score was 14-13, so get frustrated right along with me.....

Days Lately...

Well days have been good. Acadec is just frustrating at times, my scores aren't constant enough, man that just gets on my nerves, I think I need to study even more than what I already do. It's funny to see that I study and then once it comes to tests, I see like a whole different set of questions for which I had prepared myself for, but then again, I guess that is how Acadec is, you have to be prepared for the unexpected. Well band has been great, we are finally doing some good stuff this year, of course that is all thanks to the fact that we have a different band director. The only thing that I hate about this year is that, I'm an alto saxophone player, and Mr. Hill, our band director, took like all of the melody away from us, that is really messed up. He of course did this because of the size of our band, it's understandable, but I'm not a big fan of it. Well other than that, as I have said, band has been great! The rest of school has also been good, although I still sometimes wish I was a freshmen, didn't realize that you get more homework as a sophomore, I mean I expected it, but just didn't expect it at the same time. And from what I hear, school just gets tougher, geez can't wait to be a junior.....

Cowboys Are Off!

I think if the Cowboys do what they did today every day, which is win, I might just watch them. Well it sure was an exciting game, a Cowboy comeback, I was really impressed with our defense though, that was critical when it came to the end, man our defense rocks, well we have succesfully achieved a 1-0 for the season, so far. We play the Washington Redskins next Monday, September 19, at 8. Hope we win again. Oh yeah, and the Cowboys are in a four game winning streak, if the preseason wins are counted.

Yes it was certainly changed, my schedule was indeed changed. It was changed last Wednesday. Good thing too, if it hadn't gotten changed before then, I might have missed Mr. Locke teaching economics. Well I got out of computer maint. and changed it to band; spanish and changed that to Acadec. So other than that my schedule looks the same. I know this is old news, but it is better late then never.

Once again I find myself typing this, and hoping that today is the day I finaly get my schedule changed. Well since I haven't been in AcaDec for these first two weeks, I haven't been learning what they are, but I found out that the test I made up this Monday helped my team, of course we didn't move up from third place, but we did get closer, meanwhile I find myself pretty good in the ranks, I currently rank 7th, but I know that is about to change since there is some tests today and I am probably not going to take until Monday....Well Bell is about to ring, so I gotta go....

Rangers Win Over Orioles

Rangers Lose Series, But Win Today

The Rangers may have lost the series, but they won in a big day today. The final score was 13-5. Soriano was the story with 5 RBI. Oh yeah, you know there was some homeruns. Blalock hit his 21st of the year, Phil Nevin hit his 10th and 1st as a Ranger, and Michael Young hit his 16th. Now the Orioles are in town seeking revenge, so this ought to be pretty fun to watch!

Man this was a real good time for the Rangers to gain mommentum, but they had to lose, and it had to be to the Devil Rays. They don't win much on the road, and they got a win well the final score was 10-8. With that score you would expect some homeruns right? Well that is right, Hamering Hank Blalock got one and so did Gary Mathews Jr. Yet it still wasn't enough to over come a 2 point deficit.....too bad, there is always tommorow!

Well as we all know the Mavericks lost to the Phoenix Suns, but moving on from basketball summer has been, well let's put it this way: it hasn't been all that great. I planned to play a lot of basketball this summer, but an incident that happened at the end of school prevented me from doing so. What happened was that I twisted my ankle towards the end of school, therefore I was unable to play much basketball. I didn't play for all of June, I just started this July, and it has been great, it just feels good to go out and play, Academic Decathlon has been good. Keith Van Horn started the game instead of Dirk Nowitzki who was resting a shoulder. Finley, Terry, and Howard scored 14 points, Van Horn had 12. Coming off the bench Stackhouse had 18 points along with 2 assists. Shawn Bradley scored a season high 15 points and 6 rebounds in just 16 minutes of play. The Portland Trail Blazers just didn't play well at all as their record with their coach is now 3-20.

Fifth Straight Win On April

The Mavericks did a fantastic job of denying Seattle from their first division title since they won their last one seven years ago. Nowitzki seems to like this Settle building he had scored a career high earlier in his career there, Nowitzki had 31 points, 7 rebounds , and 2 assists. It was amazing to see that Michael Finley was held scoreless for the first time since it happened very early in his career. Terry followed Nowitzki in scoring with 15 points and 8 assists. The M.O.B (Mavericks Off the Bench) came out pretty good outscoring Seattle's bench, with our two fantastic sixth men Van Horn and Stackhouse, who had 12 and 14 points. They will be a factor in the Playoffs.

Combo One With Extra Tax

I had just finished visiting a friend in the hospital and stopped by a burger drive-through for lunch to eat on the way back to work. I ordered the #1 combo (burger, fry, coke) for $4.29. She said "that'll be $4.83, please drive forward."
"$4.83?? For a $4.29 meal?? That's 54 cents tax!? That can't be right," my mind raced. Tax is 8 cents on the dollar in Huntsville, Alabama and for 4 dollars that would be 32 cents plus 1/3 (29) of 8 cents would be 35 cents max.
I'd heard of window workers overcharging drive through customers and skimming the money for themselves. Someone did just that to me at a Hardees couple of years ago.
I didn't have my calculator watch (I lost it a while back) so I got a pen and paper and did the long division since there were 2 cars ahead of me. Let's see ... 483/429 ... over 12 percent tax!? When I got to the window I handed her a 5 and said "what's the sales tax in Huntsville?" She didn't know. I said "$4.83 for a $4.29 meal is 12 percent tax. That can't be right. Can I talk to the manager?" She gave me my change and called the manager.
So the manager comes over. I ask what the sales tax is in Huntsville, and she says 8 percent. I say that I just paid $4.83 for a $4.29 meal and that's over 12 percent sales tax.
She got a funny look on her face and said that maybe the computer had rung it up wrong or had charged me for the biggie size (biggie upgrade was 35 cents - which would be 4.64 plus tax which would put it over $5). She admitted it was supposed to be 4.63, and opened the drawer to give me my extra change.
"HA!" I thought to myself. "Six years engineering school has so heightened my mental mathematical adeptness that I can do percentages in my head and my superior intellect has foiled a feeble attempt by a drive-through worker to overcharge me!"
So what did this mathematical wizard do next? I took the twenty cents she handed me, proud of my staggering genius, and smugly drove off without my food.

Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch. Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull so that they can breed their own stock. Upon leaving, the brunette tells her sister, "When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home." The brunette arrives at the man's ranch, inspects the bull, and decides she wants to buy it. The man tells her that he will sell it for $599, no less.
After buying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news. She walks into the telegraph office, and says, "I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch. I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home."

Bathroom Closet

A rather old fashioned lady, always quite delicate and elegant, especially in her language, was planning a weeks holiday in Sydney with her husband, so she wrote to a particular camping ground and asked for a reservation.
She wanted to make sure that the camping ground was fully equipped, but didn't know quite how to ask about the toilet facilities. She just couldn't bring herself to write the word "toilet" in her letter.
After much thought, she finally came up with the old fashioned term "Bathroom closet" but when she wrote it down, she still thought she was being too forward, so she started all over again, rewrote the letter, and referred to the bathroom closet as the B.C.
"Does the camping ground have it's own B.C." is what she wrote.
Well, the camping ground owner wasn't a bit old fashioned, and he just couldn't figure out what the old lady was talking about, so he showed the letter around a few of the campers and the only thing they could come up with was that B.C. stood for Baptist Church, so he wrote the following reply.
Dear Madam,
I regret very much the delay in answering your letter, but I now take the pleasure of informing you that a B.C. is located nine miles north of our camping ground, and is capable of seating 250 people at one time.
I admit that it is quite a distance away if you are in the habit of going regularly but no doubt you will be pleased to know that a great number of campers go there and many take their lunches along and make a day of it. They usually arrive nice and early and stay quite late.
The last time my wife and I went was six years ago, and it was so crowded we had to stand up the whole time we were there. It may interest you to know that there is a special supper planned there to raise money to buy more seats so that everyone will be able to sit in comfort.
I would like to say that it pains me very much not to be able to go more regularly, but it is surely no lack of desire on my part, just that I am so busy most of the time.
As we grow older, it seems to be more of an effort to go, especially in the cold weather. If you decide to come down to our camping ground perhaps I could go with you the first time you go, sit with you and introduce you to all the other folks.

Fourth Win Straight Win On April 11

Josh Howard helped lift the Mavs on this game. He was the leading scorer with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Dirk followed with 19, and no it wasn't because he was struggling, it was because his minutes have been limited now since they are heading towards the playoffs. Michael Finley had 17 and Van Horn had 14 off the bench. Once again good win as heading for the playoffs.

Third Straight Win On April 9

The Mavs have now won their third straight with this win. Nowitzki once again leading the way in scoring with 24 points, 5 blocks, 5 assists, and 9 rebounds. This is MVP type of play, and Dirk is an MVP candidate. It is odd to say that their bench outscored our bench, but it happened, the leading scorer was Keith Van Horn with 10 who was followed with Stackhouse. This is a good win for the reason that it helps gain momentum as they were heading into the playoffs.

Biggest Win Of Season For The Mavs, On April 7

Absolutely fantastic win! The mavs avoided a sweep winning big. 104-68
This was an absolute confidence lifter. It is pretty amazing to say that our leading scorer came the bench, Keith Van Horn, but then again it is no surprise having such a deep team like we do. This was as I said before a confidence builder as they were heading into the playoffs. So if San Antonio is in our way we can look back to this one on some reference, but for that to happen Tim Duncan needs to be out as he was in this one. He was injured for quiete a while, so that is why the score is 104-68.

DJs For Grendel

It seems that I didn't understand the complete meaning of this book, but I have noticed that if I would have read this earlier in the year my understanding would be a lot more down. I can now say that I have now improved my reading skills since the beginning of the year until now, so I say thanks to Mr. Locke for this.
Now getting to the DJs. Very interesting book, I say this because it is based on Beowulf, yet both books are different in many ways. I saw some themes that that apply to this book like: the pain of isolation. This can be very easily seen throughout the story, Grendel seems to be close to the humans because he seems to be interested in their beliefs and everything else especially with the shaper.
"......It's coming, my brother. Believe it or not. Though you murder the world, turn plains to stone, transmogrify life into I and it, strong searching roots will crack your cave and rain will cleanse it: The world will burn green, sperm build again....." I believe that this part of a speech given by Beowulf is probably the most important one of the whole book.

It was very very interesting to see that Grendel's language evolved throughout the story. I mean at first his language was probably very low, and towards the end his language was really advanced. He reminded me a lot of a baby. Grendel learns what he sees and hears just like a baby. Thinking of the dragon, that reminds me of King Arthur and Merlin, what made me think of that is because Merlin just like the dragon sort of guide Grendel and Arthur. Referring back to the quote that was also some very important foreshadowing as well as a very good philosophy pointed out by Beowulf. I personally like Beowulf's philosophy compared to the dragon's and Grendel's. I also wonder why Grendel kept smelling the dragon, so if you know the answer feel free to post a comment.

The Day of April 5 With A Win

This was a good bounce back from that tough loss against the Cavaliers.
The Mavericks continue homecourt domminance with 5 straight home wins. Dirk was hurt but later returned. He did manage to gather 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Terry was behind Dirk with 18 points and with and outstanding 13 assists! Dampier also played fantastic with 16 points.

Long Ago, But People Have To Know About It

Well this wasn't a good game although the Mavericks had won the game before against the Cavs, the Cavs responded and the Mavs didn't Mavs only shot 35% and how could they even win with Lebron having 37 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists. Dirk had 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Too bad Mavs lost they were on a real good winning streak.

DJs for Beowulf

Well lets see...Beowulf is one of the most interesting books I've read (I probably say that all the time about every book that I have to do DJs for, but it seems that every six weeks I am introduced to new literature, and well it seems more interesting).This book has all of the neat stuff a book should have like the motifs, symbolysm, themes, and more stuff that a lot of books don't have: the things that a poem does, which are the stuff like rhyming, rhythm, etc. This book basically is a poem. I look at this book and it reminds me more that enough of the Odyssey. I mean thinking about it Odysseus is kind of like Beowulf, they are both the hero, they both rescue something, and they both are (while the other one becomes) kings. Many more things are common to this book, this book really does have lots of influence on literature today.
Monsters is a very interesting motif in this story, I say this because monsters back then weren't really monsters but they were regular people who had birth defects. I think that is reall interesting because what if Grendel is a human being that is called a "monster" simply because of a birth defect, that is too interesting. Symbolism is really interesting in this story the main one that everyone probably notices is the banquet. So far the book is really interesting so lets see how much more can it get.

DJs for O Brother Where Art Thou

Wow, that is my response to the film. It was a very very good movie. Undoubtedly one of the best movies I've seen. It is almost the Odyssey, of course it's based on the Odyssey, but still it's in the 1900 and very much like the Odyssey. Well I don't think I did a very good job comparing characters from the film to the Odyssey, but I did notice the obvious ones (for me).
Of course the very first character everyone noticed was Ulysses, just like Odysseus. Also at the beginning the guy that tell them the prophesy he says "I have no name", just like when Odysseus tells the cyclops, and the prophesy that he tells them comes true. I think that the people who were wearing white that were baptizing might have been the lotus eaters. I doubt that I can be right on this one but when Ulysses picks up the black guy, some crossroads are shown, that might symbolize the decision that Odysseus made to take Scylla's or Charybdis path.
It was very funny to see when George Nelson says his name while robbing a bank, that definitely represented when Odysseus tells the cyclops his name. The blind guy who recorded the guys' song could be compared to Homer. It's actually strange because Odysseus was famous because of the Trojan War and heroism, but theses guys were known for their song, Similar but cool.
There is absolutely no doubt that the three girls who were singing in the river were the sirens, because they lured the men towards them just like the sirens did.
The guy who kept appearing by fire all the time could probably be Poseidon. When Ulysses friend is turned in to the police and Ulysses's doesn't know that he is gone and thinks that he is a toad, that could probably be compared to the situation when the guy in Odysseus's crew dies and no one knows it until Odysseus encouters him in the land of the dead, just when Ulysses encouters him in the theater. Names seem to almost be the same first Ulysseus and later Peny, which compare to Odysseus and Penelope. K.K.K. Trying to kill Telemachus seems to symbolize when the suitors are trying to kill Telemachus. Finally when Ulysseus shows arrogance to the gods is just like when Odysseus did the same.
As I said it was a very good book and movie, and both compare very well. I believe that the movie had practically the same motifs, symbols, and themes as the book did, so I don't think I have to mention them. Good movie though.

DJs For The Odyssey Part II

Well my opinion of The Odyssey was very approving. I liked the ending a lot. Well first of all it was very interesting to me how Odysseus appeared as a beggar instead of himself, but that was probably part of his plan to take the suitors out, but it still was very smart. One thing that got me thinking is the fact that at first the gods were making him struggle through his journey, but in the second part of The Odyssey they turn and start helping him. I think I might have to read the entire book to undertand what happened there and everything.
A good symbol for this book would be the bed. It would describe Odysseus' and Penelope's love. The bed as did their love lasted a very long time.
"Never, I swear, did I harass any woman in your house-never a word, a gesture-nothing, no, I tried to restrain the sutors, whoever did such things. They wouldn't listen, keep their hands to themselves-so reckless, so they earn their shameful fate." This quote actually seem to be important to me, because none fo the suitors admit to Odysseus what they were really doing in his house, they just blame it on the other suitors.

Getting back to when Odysseus reveals himself, he only reveals himself to his son, that is probably because he needs him later on. The the nurse finds out, but she doesn't say anything to Penelope because she is instructed not to, that is real loyalty to Odysseus.

Penelope's tests are very interesting. She doesn't actually say when the last test biggins. For example she says she is going to test Odysseus but right away she asks for the bed to be moved, Odysseus not realizing it, gets mad, and Penelope then realizes that Odysseus really is who he says he is. Also, when he asks the nurse to watch some of the women who seemed unfaithful. That is almost if the nurse was Odysseus and the unfaithful women were the suitors, so there might be a reason for that, or maybe its just nothing. Anyways that seems to be all that I could think of that had significance in the Odyssey.

Thunder And Lightning

A little kid walks to and from school each day. One morning the weather was bad, with threatining clouds forming as he made his daily trek to primary school.
In the afternoon, a gale was brewing as was the coming thunder and lightning.
The kid's Mother was very concerned that her son would be fearful as he walked home, and god forbid anything should happen to him on the way home with such an electrical storm...
Following the roar of thunder, lightning would cut through the sky like a flaming sword.
Full of concern, the Mother quickly decided to drive along the route her kid goes to school from.
As she did so, she saw her little boy walking along, but at each flash of lightning, he would stop, look up and smile.

Mavs Take Advantage

The Mavericks took advantage of the Philadelphia 76'ers. Well lets see the Mavericks got DAMPIER BACK FROM INJURY!!!! While the Sixers were a bit underhanded, they did have A.I., but were without Chris Webber. The Sixers felt the wrath of the healthy Mavs, as it seemed like the first time this season, or was it, well in that department I am not completely sure but I think that they have played together healthy. Anyways moving on, if you have been seeing sport news, when they talk about the Mavericks, they talk about them winning it all, so if they do win it all, it will be really awesome and no surprise. Nowitzki with another outstanding performance with 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Van Horn again with 15 points, a good story is Dampier's though he had 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 5 points in just 17 minutes. So already in Damp's return you can see how crucial his return was to the Mavericks. They will now head Cleveland as the visiting Mavs will take on the Cavs.

Nowitzki Like Bird

Of course everybody knows who Larry Bird is right? Everybody also knows what he did in Boston right? Well Nowitzki gave the Boston fans some flashbacks, as Nowitzki lighted up the building with a Larry Bird like performance. Nowitzki had 36 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, talk about Larry Bird performance. Van Horn keeps contributing as he had 21 points and 4 rebounds. I know everybody has been waiting to hear this, but STACKHOUSE IS BACK!!!!!! He had 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist in 17 minutes of playing time. The Mavericks will head to Philadelphia to take on the leagues leading scorer, Allen Iverson.

Tough Win

The Mavericks come from a blowout to a tough win on the road. The Mavs took care of business at the defensive end real well. If anyone was to look at the stats before watching this game they would think that this would be a close game, then they would be right. The Mavericks perservered through a tough defensive game with a 95-88 win. The Pistons tried to rally, I mean they had to try the were literally getting boos from their home crowd, but Devin Harris put a stop to that as he beat the clock by dribbling all the way to the front court,shooting the ball, and making a three pointer which totally changed the momentum of the game in the favor of the Mavs. Josh Howard had 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steal. Nowitzki followed with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Mavericks will now travel even further east as they will face the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, the game will start at 6:00.

Blowout!!

It was thanks to Michael Finley's fabulous shooting, who was 8-8 from three-point range. He finished with 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Keith Van Horn finished behind him with 23 points, also 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Hopefully the Mavericks as well as Finley gained confidence as they go on a four game road trip starting at Detroit, home of the NBA Champions.

Well where should I start off? I guess I shall start with the NBA's hottest team, the Miami Heat. This team is becoming a fan favorite, I mean what is not to like about them they have the league's most dominant force, Shaq, and lets not forget about the very exciting Wade. This duo is looking for a championship.
Let's talk Phoenix, although this team has the second best record (at this point), this team really doesn't have that much of a chance to win it all. The reason I say this is because they play offence and defense is what wins games, if who ever is reading this doesn't believe me just ask the defending champs, the Detroit Pistons. They will however be in the top five for sure by the end of the season.
The San Antonio Spurs have been on of the NBA's favorite teams. They are the leagues best defensive teams, and might win it all. At this moment they are the third best team overall. If they make it to The Finals it looks like it might be the Spurs and the Heat or the Pistons.

This is going to be one of the most exciting games this season as Lebron James A.K.A. King James will make his one and only stop @ Dallas this season. The sophomore is averaging 26.2 points per game right behind Nowitzki's 26.8. It will feature at one end one of the best offensive players in the league, Cleveland's Lebron James, and one of the best defensive players of the league, Dallas' Josh Howard. Be looking for these two to have a showdown, but don't forget about the MVP candidate Dirk Nowitzki.

No Sweep

The Mavs weren't able to contain Peja on Thursday as he scored a season high 38 points, Nowitzki countered with 35, but it wasn't enough. The Mavs didn't have enough for the sweep, and end their road trip 1-1. The good thing about this game is that Van Horn and Devin Harris have been playing well, that is a good sign because the playoffs are just around the corner, and that is exactly what we are going to need from them.

Mavericks Win A Dangerous One

I was walking through the supermarket to pick up a few things when I noticed an old lady following me around. Thinking nothing of it, I ignored her and continued on. Finally I went to the checkout line, but she got in front of me.
"Pardon me," she said, "I'm sorry if my staring at you has made you feel uncomfortable. It's just that you look just like my son, who just died recently."
"I'm very sorry," I said to her, "Is there anything I can do for you?"
"Yes," she said, "As I'm leaving, can you say 'Good bye, Mother? It would make me feel so much better."
"Sure," I said. An odd request, but no harm would come of it. As the old woman was leaving, I called out, "Goodbye, Mother!"
As I stepped up to the checkout counter, I saw that my total was $127.50.
"How can that be?" I asked, "I only purchased a few things!"
"Your mother said that you would pay for her," said the clerk.

Mavericks Sweep The Hornets

Avery Johnson went 2-0 very easy as the Mavericks new Head Coach. The Mavericks glided smoothly past the Hornets with a 103-86 win. The Mavs played terrific basketball. Devin Harris scored 12 of his 17 points in the second quarter. The Mavs end their homestand and go to Cali for some road-type basketball as they will play the Golden State Warriors (today), and the Sacramento Kings tomorrow (Thursday). This will be the last time this season that the Warriors will see the Mavs, and this will also be the last time the Kings see the Mavs.

My Spring Break

Well lets see, I didn't really go anywhere this week. My Spring Break consisted of a lot of basketball and some of Mr. Locke's work. It wasn't my best Spring Break though i would maybe change it. Johnson Starts 1-0 as Head Coach

Well it sure is sad to see the second all time winningest coach resign, but there lies a future for Avery Johnson as he now becomes the Mavericks Head Coach. The Mavericks welcomed him with a 104-93 win over the Charlotte Bobcats. Nowitzki scored 33 points, Terry had 18 and 9 assists, followed by Daniels' 17. A new era has started, and now the city of Dallas will put their faith on Avery Johnson to deliver the first Championship to Dallas.

DJs For The Odyssey Part I

Well this has been a pretty interesting book. Odysseus, the main character, is trying to get home, but there are many obstacles on the way. At the beginning it seemed like Odysseus was an ok leader, and up to now(Book XII) it seems like he has gotten better at that, even though his crew still disobeys him. He does however keep his crew noticed of what happens. "I'll tell you all, so we can die with our eyes wide open now or escape our fate and certain death together."

Odysseus has encoutered many problems, the most recent just happening in Book XII as his crew feasted on the cattle of the Sungod. That being the thing that he was most warned about (not eating the cattle of the Sungod), and that is exactly what his crew did, but they did pay the price.

Food seems to be a symbol in this story, either it being good or bad. Food causes the crew and Odysseus to do many things like when Odysseus

tarries in the cave of the Cyclops, when his men slaughter the Suns flocks, or when they eat the fruit of the lotus.

It will be pretty interesting to see if Odysseus does make it home and if all the things that the Theban prophet Tiresias and Circe predicted will come true.

Mavs Wake Up At Home

The Mavericks have been losing at home lately woke up on Thursday, they had enough to get this win against a struggling opponent. Howard led the way with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Michael Finley added 17. The Mavericks continue on this four game homestand, and will face the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday.

It's Almost A Rule

As the title says: it is almost a rule when two team play each other twice in three days. The rule is that the team that won the first game will not likely win the second, and it proved to be right. The Mavericks fell to Minnesota on Tuesday with a score of 100-91. Nowitzki was the leading scorer for the Mavs with 21 points and 15 rebounds, but Josh Howard was outstanding with 6 blocks, but it wasn't enough. The Mavericks never had the lead, they came real close down the stretch, but K.G. showed his M.V.P. performance of last year with 11 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter. They will have to win against Portland Thursday.

A father walked into the market followed by his ten-year-old son. The kid was spinning a quarter in the air and catching it between his teeth. As they walked through the market, someone bumped into the boy at just the wrong moment and the coin went straight into his mouth and lodged in his throat. He immediately started choking and going blue in the face, and his Dad started panicking, shouting and screaming for help.
A middle-aged man in a gray suit was sitting at a coffee bar in the market reading his newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. At the sound of the commotion he looked up, put his coffee cup down on the saucer, neatly folded his newspaper and placed it on the counter. He got up from his seat and made his way nonchalantly across the market. Reaching the boy, the man carefully took hold of the kid’s gonads and squeezed gently but firmly.
After a few seconds the boy convulsed violently and coughed up the quarter, which the man caught in his free hand. Releasing the boy, the man gave the coin to the father and walked back to his seat in the coffee bar without looking back.
As soon as he was sure that his son had suffered no lasting ill effects, the father rushed over to the man and thanked him profusely. The man looked embarrassed and brushed off the father’s thanks. "I've never seen anybody do anything like that before, it was fantastic. What are you, a surgeon or something like that?"
"Oh, good heavens no," the man replied. "I work for the IRS."

The Blond's Mailbox

A man was in his front yard mowing grass when his attractive, blond, female neighbor came out of the house and went straight to the mailbox. She opened it, looked inside, slammed it shut, and stormed back intoher house.
A little later she came out of her house again, went to the mailbox, again opened it, and slammed it shut again. Angrily, back into the house she went.
As the man was getting ready to edge the lawn, here she came again. She marched to the mailbox, opened it and then slammed it closed harder than ever.
Puzzled by her actions, the man asked her, "Is something wrong?"
To which she replied, "There certainly is! My stupid computer keeps telling me I have mail!"

Timberwolves @ Mavericks

The Mavericks will be playing the Minnesota Timberwolves for the second straight time in three days. The T-Wolves will be ready for this one as they will be getting a couple of players back from injury, but as for the Mavs, it looks like they won't as they are still without Jerry Stackhouse and Eric Dampier. Once again this will be a real good one as they T-Wolves will try to get revenge for being beaten at their own homecourt, and will try to beat the Mavs in their homecourt. The Mavs begin a four game homestand beginning with this one.

Trouble Remembering Things

An 80 year old couple were having problems remembering things, so they decided to go to their doctor to get checked out to make sure nothing was wrong with them.
When they arrived at the doctors, they explained to the doctor about the problems they were having with their memory. After checking the couple out, the doctor told them that they were physically okay but might want to start writing things down and make notes to help them remember things. The couple thanked the doctor and left.
Later that night while watching TV, the man got up from his chair and his wife asked, "Where are you going?"
He replied, "To the kitchen."
She asked, "Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?"
He replied, "Sure."
She then asked him, "Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?"
He said, "No, I can remember that."
She then said, "Well I would also like some strawberries on top. You had better write that down because I know you'll forget that."
He said, "I can remember that, you want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries."
She replied, "Well I also would like whipped cream on top. I know you will forget that so you better write it down."
With irritation in his voice, he said, "I don't need to write that down! I can remember that." He then fumes into the kitchen.
After about 20 minutes he returned from the kitchen and handed her a plate of bacon and eggs. She stared at the plate for a moment and said angrily:
"I TOLD you to write it down! You forgot my toast!"

Mavericks Take No Pity

The Mavericks didn't take any pity on the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are fighting for the last spot in the western conference playoffs, as they defeated them with a score of 102-93. Jason Terry and Marquis Daniels were really the heroes as Terry scored 12 of his 22 points in the 4th quarter and Daniels scored 11 of his 16 also in the 4th quarter. The Mavs will play the Timberwolves once again for the fourth and final time this season on Tuesday.

Mavericks Escape An Overtime

Devin Harris made his homecoming a good one on Friday, he only had 9 points and 4 assists, but they really helped. The Mavericks escaped an overtime with the help of Darrell Armstrong, who was a defensive key in the last seconds of the game. The Mavs did a very good job with Avery Johnson as the acting head coach. Finley and Nowitzki combined for 48 points, so they did improve in that category from their previous game. They will now play Minnesota on Sunday.

Kobe Demolishes Mavs

Kobe Bryant led the attack with 36 points and 9 rebounds. He scored 12 of his 36 in the 4th quarter. It seemed that the Mavericks had a comfortable lead, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Lakers, who are fighting for a playoff position. The Mavs will go to Milwaukee to face the Bucks. They will look to get Finley and Nowitzki going as they just got back from injury. They combined for 37 this game, so they will look to increase that.

Mavs Do It undermanned

The Mavericks did a fantastic job on Monday vs. The Toronto Raptors. Even though they didn't have their top three scorers, they still pulled off the win. Daniels replaced Nowitzki's presence with 32 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Terry replaced Finley's presence with 23 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds. Howard replaced Stackhouse's presence with his 22 points, 5 steals, and 8 rebounds. Keith Van Horn contributed to the cause with 19. The Mavericks won't play until Thursday against the Lakers, so don't miss that game it's gonna be a real good one!

A Rich Accident

A policeman was interrogating 3 blondes who were training to become detectives. To test their skills in recognizing a suspect, he shows the first blonde a picture for 5 seconds and then hides it. "This is your suspect, how would you recognize him?
The first blonde answers, "That's easy, we'll catch him fast because he only has one eye!" The policeman says, "Well...uh...that's because the picture shows his side profile."
Slightly flustered by this ridiculous response, he flashes the picture for 5 seconds at the second blonde and asks her, "This is your suspect, how would you recognize him?"
The second blonde giggles, flips her hair and says, "Ha! He'd be too easy to catch because he only has one ear!" The policeman angrily responds, "What's the matter with you two?!? Of course only one eye and one ear are SHOWING because it's a picture of his side profile!! Is that the best answer you can come upwith?
Extremely frustrated at this point, he shows the picture to the third blonde and in a very testy voice asks, "This is your suspect, how would you recognize him?" He quickly adds"... think hard before giving me a stupid answer."
The blonde looks at the picture intently for a moment and says, "Hmmmm...the suspect wears contact lenses." The policeman is surprised and speechless because he really doesn't know himself if the suspect wears contacts or not. "Well, that's an interesting answer...wait here for a few minutes while I check his file and I'll get back to you on that."
He leaves the room and goes to his office, checks the suspect's file in his computer, and comes back with a beaming smile on his face.
"Wow! I can't believe it...it's TRUE! The suspect doesin fact wear contact lenses. Good work! How were you able to make such an astute observation?
"That's easy," the blonde replied. "He can't wear regular glasses because he only has one eye and one ear."

Jason Terry led the way for the Mavericks in Dirk's absence on Sunday vs. The Rockets in a crucial loss. The Mavericks have lost three in a row now and will definitely look to win at home vs. Toronto. This loss clearly shows that Dirk Nowitzki deserves the Most Valuable Player award, because he is what makes the Mavericks win.

Mavs Drop Second In L.A.

The Mavericks lost their second game in a row on Friday.Despite of Dirk's 23, Stackhouse's 19, and Daniels's 18 the Mavericks weren't able to pull off a win vs. the Lakers all thanks to Kobe Bryant who scored 40 points along with 6 assits and 8 rebounds. The Mavericks will head back to Texas, but not to Dallas, Texas instead to Houston, Texas. This will have to be a showdown!

Mavs Can't handle Clippers

Well the Mavs lost the series to the Clippers. Elton Brand and Corey Maggette led the way for them, they were pretty hot in their home court. Although Nowitski came up with 25 it wasn't nearly enough to overcome an 11 point deficit that they suffered. Maggette had 35 and Brand with 19. The one and only reason on why they lost was because of the rebounds, which were in Los Angeles' favor by 20 52-32. If they want to win vs. The Lakers they really need to improve in that section, even though at one point they were the best in the league at that.

New Look Dirk

I mean Nowitski couldn't have gotten blcked, Marion clearly fouled him. This type of thing has happened twice to the Mavs this year the first occuring against San Antonio. Well it sure was a heart breaker. They will get back to their winning ways as they play New Orleans.

Little Johnny lived in the country. They had to use an outhouse, and Little Johnny hated it because it was hot in the summer, cold in the winter and stank all the time.
The outhouse was sitting on the bank of a creek and Little Johnny determined that one day he would push that outhouse into the creek.
One day after a spring rain, the creek was swollen so Little Johnny decided today was the day to push the outhouse into the creek.
He got a large stick and started pushing. Finally, the outhouse toppled into the creek and floated away.
That night his dad told him they were going to the wood shed after supper. Knowing that meant a spanking, Little Johnny asked why.
The dad replied, "Someone pushed the outhouse into the creek today. It was you, wasn't it, son?"
Little Johnny answered, "Yes".
Then he thought a moment and said, "Dad, I read in school today that George Washington chopped down a cherry tree and didn't get into trouble because he told the truth."
The dad replied, "Well, son, George Washington's father wasn't in that cherry tree."

Sacramento Kings Make Trade

The Sacramento Kings made a huge trade. They traded their best player, Chris Webber, to the Philadelphia 76rs. I though that that trade was one of the most stupidest trades ever. Sacramento is just basically saying that they are starting over now, so that kinda means good news to the Mavericks because if Sacramento stays in the 5th seed of the west, the Mavs will have no problem eliminating them from the playoffs.

Dallas Makes Trade

The Dallas Mavericks traded Calvin Booth, Alan Henderson and cash for Keith Van Horn to the Milwaikee Bucks. I personally don't have any idea on why the Dallas Mavericks would make this trade, but there has been some speculation that Milwaukee might not want Alan Henderson, so they might release him and Dallas can resign him. Hopefully that is what will happen.
